The only variety theatre in eastern Germany to remain open all year round, Krystallpalast Varieté Leipzig presents a modern, distinctive take on variety with in-house productions that run for several months. For every production, an ensemble is put together made up of top-notch, often prize-winning artists, musicians, dancers and modern comedians.
In 2022, Krystallpalast Varieté Leipzig celebrates its 25th anniversary. This privately operated variety theatre and contemporary eatery has an impressive past: its predecessor, the historic Krystallpalast in Leipzig’s Wintergartenstrasse, was one of Germany’s largest variety theatres until it was destroyed in 1943. All the big names, from Josephine Baker to Clown Grock, performed here. In 1997, Krystallpalast Varieté Leipzig was rebuilt to the original plans and has long played in the same league as variety theatres of international stature with their contemporary trend towards cirque nouveau.
