German incense smoker
Johann Sebastian Bach was a passionate smoker. This can be proved with a document from 1713: That December, the composer stayed some time in Halle/Saale to apply for the job of organist at the Marienkirche. A receipt lists tobacco aside from the costs for accomodation, food and beverages.
In the notebook for Anna Magdalena Bach, started in 1725, one can find the composition »Sooft ich meine Tabakspfeife...« (Whenever I smoke my tobacco pipe...), BWV 515a. It can be assumed that Bach was still partial to smoking at this time.
This exclusive German incense smoker was specially designed for the Bach Museum Leipzig and is crafted in the Erzgebirge.
